By January, the average continuous temperature in the United States is near freezing. So it’s easy to understand why many travelers plan warm-weather winter getaways. Snowbirds regularly flock to Florida, the Sunshine State itself, for a reprieve.

This year sun-seeking travelers have something extra special to consider: the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions — where world-class golf meets world-class entertainment.

The most-watched LPGA event of the season will take place January 20 – 23, 2022, in Lake Nona, Florida, and tickets will be open to the public. However, for Owners the event will be memorable for another reason — marking the debut of Hilton Grand Vacations’ Events of a Lifetime program, including a series of private concerts and events.

Check out this four-day itinerary, whether you're a traveler on the fence about vacation ownership with Hilton Grand Vacations or an Owner craving a one-of-a-kind experience.

Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions Four-Day Itinerary

Day One

Morning

Lake Nona Golf & Country Club’s gates open at 7 a.m. to welcome spectators for the event, and tee time is around 8 a.m. Consider stocking your Hilton Grand Vacations Suite kitchen on check-in day with quick and easy foods for your stay, such as breakfast options.

Then plan to have breakfast in before leaving for Lake Nona, and remember to leave yourself plenty of time as you get a lay of the land.

Afternoon

Enjoy Round 1 of the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and the first official day of world-class hospitality. Watch live as beloved celebrities and world-class LPGA athletes battle it out on the green for charity. Gates close during the afternoon — leaving you plenty of time to enjoy your Hilton Grand Vacations resort before the evening’s events begin.

Evening

Climb aboard the complimentary shuttle back to Lake Nona Golf & Country Club for the fun-filled night ahead — the event tent opens at 5 p.m. for the kickoff party and concert. Enjoy a night of world-class entertainment, including  well-known musical artists and food and beverages.

Past performers have included Counting Crows, Jake Owen, Cole Swindell, Lee Brice, Toby Keith and Boyz II Men.

Day Two

Morning

It’ll be another early wake-up call to make the first tee off. So, check out one of the on-site breakfast options at your resort — from Starbucks to grab-and-go meals at the sundry or marketplace and even sit-down dining; Hilton Grand Vacations’ resort-style amenities offer Owners and Guests an ideal launch pad to the day ahead.

Afternoon

Enjoy Round 2 of the golf tournament as the competition on the course intensifies. In addition, select Owners and Guests will have access to a private skybox with a catered lunch buffet as well as a premium open bar.

However, if your tickets don’t afford you access to the private skybox, Lake Nona is brimming with unique experiences. Plan to check out the area’s local attractions before heading back to the resort for downtime.

Less than 5 miles from the course is Boxi Park, a one-of-a-kind incubator for new restaurant concepts and a local favorite worth the stop.

Get a taste of up-and-coming eateries while you explore this family-friendly spot, complete with a playground, lawn games, a sand volleyball pit and more.

Order: Try the lobster roll, and wash it down with a passion fruit mojito.

Evening

Allow for a low-key night ahead of Saturday’s festivities. Start the evening with dinner at another Lake Nona hot spot: Canvas. This restaurant and market with lakeside dining offers modern American cuisine focusing on seasonal, regional produce and fresh seafood.

It’s easy to see why Canvas was awarded the critics and reader’s choice awards for best outdoor dining by the Orlando Sentinel. Then, top off your evening by enjoying all that Hilton Grand Vacations’ Orlando resorts offer. Put your feet up with a nightcap on your private balcony, or soak up the ideal Florida weather from a hot tub.

Day Three

Morning

Now that you're familiar with the area, try a local spot for breakfast. Veg’n Out is one of Lake Nona’s newest locally owned eateries and promises thoughtfully sourced, seasonal and nutritionally balanced vegan fare. The menu features fresh cold-pressed juices, salads, acai bowls and grain bowls. Try the popular Four Seasons bowl, and consider ordering ahead to skip the line.

For travelers craving a good old cup of joe, stop by Foxtail Coffee, a locally owned artisan coffee company founded by two South Florida friends. The Lake Nona location is just one of 29 Central Florida stores. Here, you can get nearly any type of brew you like — from Ethiopian varieties to matcha drinks and specialty teas.

Afternoon

As many golf enthusiasts will attest, day three of modern-day golf tournaments is known as “moving day,” where competitors are vying for rank — typically leading to a lively day on the course. And, considering the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions’ all-star roster, you should expect no less.

Plan to take the shuttle from the resort to attend the private open-air concert held in the event tent for a once-in-a-lifetime experience complete with an exclusive show, food and an open bar throughout the evening.

Day Four

Morning

As the final tournament day and last full day of your getaway, it's a great opportunity to finish any breakfast foods in your suite, or enjoy a grab-and-go option at the resort.

Afternoon

The competition will be fiercest in the final round as world-class LPGA athletes and their celebrity counterparts putt their way toward $1.2 million in prize money and a $500,000 purse, respectively. Be sure to claim a spot near the 18th hole for the awards ceremony immediately following play, concluding the 2022 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.

As you make your way back to the resort to recharge, stop by 407 Cafe for a treat from this family-owned and -operated European-inspired cafe. Local favorites include high-quality gelato, artisan coffee and several choices of crepes — both sweet and savory.

Evening

End your golf-themed winter getaway by taking a few swings yourself at Drive Shack. This crowd-pleasing spot offers a creative spin on the sport and turns golf into fun games like Shackjack, a nod to classic blackjack, and Monster Hunt, where you destroy monsters to save a princess.

Be sure to bring your appetite because this one-stop shop is complete with mouthwatering food and beverages.
