Summary: A firsthand look at how vacation membership offers flexibility, variety and real travel value

If you had asked me a few years ago, I would have told you that owning a timeshare or joining a vacation club didn’t make much sense. Fast forward to today, more than a year into membership, and my perspective has completely changed.

It all started with something as simple as walking through Bass Pro Shops®. My wife and I were just passing through on our way to the rest of the mall when a sales representative from Bluegreen Vacations, now part of the Hilton Grand Vacations portfolio, caught our attention.

We listened, mostly out of curiosity, and ended up agreeing to an introductory trip to New Hampshire. To be honest, we went into it expecting a free stay in the White Mountains and a few extras, with no real intention of becoming Members.

What To Expect From A Vacation Membership Presentation

The catch, of course, was attending a presentation on Bluegreen Vacations membership. During our visit, we toured the property, learned more about the benefits, and explored the range of destinations available across the country.

Afterward, we sat down with a sales agent who walked us through the different membership levels. What followed was a lot of questions, a lot of back-and-forth, and a careful look at what made sense for our travel habits and budget.

In the end, we chose a package that felt like the right fit without stretching beyond what we were comfortable spending.

Why Flexibility And Destination Variety Matter Most

Two things ultimately convinced us: Destinations and flexibility.

Bluegreen offers access to more than 40 destinations across the U.S. as well as a resort in Aruba. Many of these locations were places we already loved, some were on our list, and others had never even crossed our minds. That variety made the experience feel more open and exciting.

There is also something for every type of trip. Whether you want outdoor adventure, a relaxing beach getaway, or time in a new city, the options are there.

How Points-Based Travel Expands Our Options

Flexibility is just as important. Every year, we receive a set number of Points that we can use however works best for us.

We’re not tied to a single location and aren't limited to specific travel windows. While the number of Points required can vary by destination and time of year, thoughtful planning helps us get the most value from what we have.

That flexibility has made it easier for us to travel more often and to places we might not have considered before.

Is Vacation Club Membership Right For You?

If you are on the fence about vacation club membership, start by looking at your own travel habits. Think about where you like to go, how often you travel and what you want out of your vacations.

Most importantly, consider your budget. If the program you are considering aligns with your goals and fits comfortably within your financial plan, you may find yourself just as surprised as we were.

For us, what started as a casual conversation turned into a completely new way to travel.
