Our Favorite Places In Northern Vermont
Ben & Jerry’s Waterbury Factory Ice Cream Shop
This iconic factory tour and ice cream shop is located just off the I-89 exit in Waterbury, Vermont. Book in advance as tours fill up quickly. The experience offers a fun look at Ben & Jerry’s history and how their ice cream is made, plus they offer free samples. As for the shop, the ice cream somehow tastes even better there than anywhere else.
Member Tip: Stock up on groceries at Shaw’s Grocery, just off I-89. It’s the largest grocery store in the area.

Burlington, Vermont, is about 45 minutes from the northern Vermont RCI resorts and is well worth the trip, especially for a cruise on Lake Champlain. We booked in advance and ordered pizza and drinks to enjoy during the two-hour boat ride. The combination of stunning views and local history made it unforgettable.
Member Tip: Before or after your cruise, take a stroll down Church Street Marketplace. This pedestrian outdoor mall features local restaurants and shops, including Vermont Flannel.
The notch, after which the resort and park are named, is a winding, steep and narrow road from Stowe over the mountain. The park features hiking trails of varying difficulty and staffed entrances with maps available. It is absolutely breathtaking to explore this park. In summer, you can drive through the notch. In winter, it’s closed.
Member Tip: Ride the Gondola SkyRide in Stowe for incredible views without the hike.

The Von Trapp Brewing Bierhall & Restaurant
Yes, that Von Trapp family. After fleeing Austria, they settled on a beautiful hill in Stowe. Today, it’s one of the most scenic spots to relax. There’s nothing better than sitting outside on a sunny summer day, sipping one of their microbrews and taking in the beauty of the mountains.
Member Tip: Don’t miss the German restaurant located further up the hill at the lodge.
Stowe is often called one of the prettiest towns in North America. It has a charming walkable downtown filled with gift shops, restaurants, chocolatiers and coffee shops, plus easy access to nearby hiking trails. Start your visit at the Stowe Visitor Center.
Member Tip: In summer, stop by the Stowe Farmers Market for locally made goods including maple products, ceramics, fabrics and fresh farm items.
