Summary: A Member’s quick two-day trip to San Francisco, including what to do, where to go, and how they enjoyed the City by the Bay.

It’s hard not to fall in love with San Francisco. The city offers the perfect mix of metropolitan energy, moody fog and the cold Pacific Ocean. Given that we live only a couple of hours from the city, it goes without saying that we try to visit at least once a year for a weekend getaway.

Arriving in San Francisco

On our most recent trip to San Francisco, Jason and I arrived early so we could walk around Cow Hollow, a neighborhood in the city. This bustling area is full of restaurants, bars and boutique shops. It’s also right next to the Presidio and the Palace of Fine Arts.

On our first day, we grabbed lunch at Super Duper Burgers, a local chain that features locally sourced burgers and shakes. We then walked over to the Palace of Fine Arts and spent some time marveling at the gorgeous architecture, some of which was even featured in “Star Wars.”

Evening Time in San Francisco

That evening, we went to see the San Francisco Giants play. Even though it was July, we bundled up, as the outdoor stadium can get chilly even in the warmest part of summer. That evening, we walked back to our hotel and were treated to spectacular views of the Bay Bridge as we strolled down The Embarcadero.

Day Two in San Francisco

The next day, we started off with a hearty breakfast at Cracked and Battered (have a glass of freshly made carrot and orange juice — you won’t be disappointed!) We then spent most of the day exploring San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum, which just happens to have free admission on the first Sunday of every month. That evening, we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Foreign Cinema. This unique dining destination plays rotating movies on the wall as you eat. The night we visited, they were playing “Austin Powers” on a loop.
