The Vacationeer

From discovering the wildlife of the Great Smoky Mountains to outstanding music and theater performances, the whole family will be entertained in Pigeon Forge.

Hilton Grand Vacations has put together a list of 9 things to do in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Experience the Smoky Mountain Monarch Butterfly Migration

The Smoky Mountain Monarch Migration is an annual event that the whole family can enjoy together. Monarch butterflies leave the Smoky Mountains and migrate south each summer to spend their winter hibernating in parts of Southern California and Mexico.

You can sign up to participate in the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont monarch butterfly tagging program. This experience is a group effort to monitor the health of the monarch population and to track the butterflies’ progress along their migration route. Each year in late summer and early fall, volunteers flock to Cades Cove to find the butterfly you tagged thousands of miles away.

Thrills for the Whole Family at Dollywood

The Dollywood theme park is one of the most popular Pigeon Forge family activities. Dollywood features rides, a water park, the Chasing Rainbows Museum, and plenty of musical events.

Explore the Historic Old Mill Square

Old Mill Square is comprised of shops and restaurants located on Old Mill Avenue in Pigeon Forge. You can enjoy wandering the General Store, two restaurants, a pottery shop, a jewelry store, and more. The complex also includes a historic water-powered gristmill built in 1836 on the banks of the Pigeon River.

Relive the Maiden Voyage of the Titanic

The Titanic Museum is a two-story museum, built half-scale to the original ship. The museum offers visitors a unique and interactive experience to learn what it was like on the Titanic. There is a two-hour self-guided tour in which guests can visit the museum’s 20 galleries and see its 400 pre-discovery artifacts.

Pay Tribute to the King of Rock n’ Roll

The Elvis Presley Museum features numerous exhibits and hundreds of artifacts from the “King of Rock n’ Roll”. One of the most popular tours in Pigeon Forge is the audio tour of the museum hosted by Ed Hill and Donnie Sumner, both friends and colleagues of Elvis Presley. These hosts’ comments and memories add to the experience as visitors tour the museum and admire the artifacts on display.

Get Up Close with Celebrities at the Hollywood Wax Museum

The Hollywood Wax Museum is one of the largest in the United States, and one of the best things to do in Pigeon Forge. There are two floors of wax figures from popular film and musical entertainment industries. Here you can “mingle” with celebrities from present and past, including Elvis Presley, Charlie Chaplin and Julia Roberts.

Kick Back with a Wild West Dinner Show

Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede is one of the best shows in Pigeon Forge. This boot-stomping good time begins in the Carriage Room with a performance of bluegrass and country music by the band Mountain Ruckus. Afterward, head to the arena for dinner and a Wild West revue that consists of more than 30 horses and a variety of other animals.

Speaks for itself, let the doves fly!

Sip Tennessee’s Best Wines

Set in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, Mountain Valley Winery specializes in producing French and German-style wines, as well as sweet fruit wines such as muscadine. The winery offers guided tours each day, and tastings are free.

Continue Sipping at Old Forge Distillery

The Old Forge Distillery, located in a historic barn near The Old Mill, is a unique small-batch distillery. The head distiller creates moonshines inspired by recipes from The Old Mill Kitchens. Sample a variety of spirits including, bourbon, rum, and vodka.
