When you live in New York, you dream of faraway places such as Hawaii, half a world away. Without Hilton Grand Vacations, I wouldn’t have thought a trip like that was possible.

As an Owner, I know what to expect at HGV resorts, so having properties in these far-off destinations makes the trip less daunting. I encourage you to take the leap, hop on a plane — even if it takes you 15 hours — and check out Kohala Suites, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club, on the Big Island of Hawaii. You won’t regret it.

Hawaii has so much to offer, especially when you combine it with Hilton Grand Vacations. From Kohala Suites, I could have my morning coffee on my patio with a beautiful golf course view or enjoy my coffee poolside while the kids were swimming. Thanks to Hilton Grand Vacations, we golfed at the resort, saw a show with flame throwers, attended a luau and had a once-in-a-lifetime dolphin encounter.

You can visit Kings’ Land, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club, for plantation-style decor showcasing the beauty of Hawaii. We had the opportunity to see both properties since Kings’ Land is within minutes of Kohala Suites.

Kohala Suites also offers a shuttle service to nearby Hilton Waikoloa Village, where you can enjoy shopping, a large array of pools and breathtaking views of the Kohala coastline.

Once you leave the resorts, there’s still so much to do. The beaches are all they are cracked up to be — beautiful sand and blue water as far as the eye can see. Many beaches have restaurants where you can enjoy the view while grabbing lunch or a refreshing cocktail.

One of our favorite things to do was hopping on an ATV tour and learn about the history of the Big Island while exploring the waterfalls and hearing local folklore.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was well worth the visit. In addition to the volcano, you get to see the impact lava has on vegetation, the movement of the lava forever preserved in the rock formations and how an active volcano affects local communities.

With so much to do, we’ll surely be back to explore all that the islands of Hawaii have to offer.
