Nestled in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, Breckenridge, Colorado, is considered one of the best mountain towns for family vacations, snowboarding and small-town adventures. While Breck is a world-class ski destination, this Hallmark movie-esque town has plenty of things to do besides hitting the slopes. I’ve become an expert in discovering kid-friendly fun and setting aside some time for adult-only breaks — and Breck has everything you need for both.
Check out 14 of my favorite Breckenridge dining spots, from sweet treats to date-night eats.
Family-Friendly Restaurants
This restaurant is a full-size gold dredge replica in the middle of a pond. This pub is a great spot to catch a sports game and enjoy a menu with a wide variety. We love their wings, and my picky son eats his all-time favorite food — dino nuggets — here.
We’ve found the best comfort food in town here. I could eat their chicken and waffles any time of day. If you’re a fan of live music, there’s a stage in the back of the restaurant where local artists play. Mother Loaded also offers happy hour every day from 3–6 p.m.
Our kids love this place. This family-friendly sports bar and arcade serves pizza, burgers and more. The portions are big, so you can save some money by sharing or taking leftovers. There’s often a wait, but you can hit up the arcade until your table is ready.
This small but cozy family-owned and -operated pizzeria has the best pizza in town. We love the service each time we go, and my son loves the fish tank behind the corner booth. There’s both indoor and patio seating.
Adult-Only Spots
This tasting room is one of my favorites. It’s an intimate spot located in the heart of downtown Breckenridge. My husband and I love to sit at their bar for a wine flight, charcuterie board and the best garlic and herb fries ever — you won’t be disappointed.
This upscale bistro offers a variety of American dishes. Our favorite is the Gold Canyon Ranch beef tenderloin. We’ve sat in the main dining room but would love to go back and sit at the bar next time.
This is the only multi-room bar and nightclub I know of in this part of the Rocky Mountains. Cecilia’s DJ plays the best hits to get everyone on the dance floor. Don’t be surprised if you see some bachelor or bachelorette parties at this spot.
This ski and snowboard shop, located off Main Street, is also a bar. It offers ski and snowboard gear, apparel, craft beers and specialty cocktails. It’s packed every time I go, which makes it tons of fun. They often have live music out back, too.
Best Coffee and Pastry Shops
Also located off Main Street, this authentic French bakery always has a line out the door. Stop by for one of the best chocolate croissants you’ll ever eat.
This coffee spot offers breakfast and lunch. We love to come here and pick up homemade donuts, pastries and gluten-free options for my sister. The coffee is amazing, too.
This crepe stand is one of a kind. There’s always a line no matter the time of day it is — and it’s no wonder why. This is the number one request by my teenagers, and with sweet and savory crepe options, everyone’s happy. When I think of Breckenridge, I think of Crepes A La Cart.
Dessert and Sweet Treat Spots
I am a chocolate fanatic, and this is a must-stop shop whenever we visit Breckenridge. They have every type of chocolate you can think of here, but we especially love their fudge and candy apples.
This spot has every type of candy and junk food one could ever want — a kid’s dream and a parent’s nightmare. Stop by at your own risk.
This ice cream shop offers unique homemade ice cream flavors. They also handmake waffle cones to order. We stop by even on the coldest days to get our fix — it’s that good.
Where To Stay In Breckenridge, Colorado
Upon arriving at the stunning Valdoro Mountain Lodge, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club, you’ll instantly fall in love with the cabin-like feel.
Like many families, it’s hard for us to unwind. But when we’re at Valdoro Mountain Lodge, we have no problem relaxing. We love snuggling up next to the cozy in-Suite fireplace, playing card games in the spacious kitchen area, drinking coffee or hot chocolate on the balcony and soaking in one of the three on-site hot tubs after a long day.
Plus, the friendly complimentary shuttle makes it easy to travel from the resort to Main Street. From there, you can walk the streets amid breathtaking mountain views.
