COVID-19 Travel to Scotland

Situation Summary 

  • Due to the COVID-19 situation, the Scottish government has extended restrictions across the country. Following this guidance, all Hilton Grand Vacations properties in Scotland have temporarily suspended operations.
  • The restrictions are expected to be in place through April 26, 2021, and are contingent upon further reviews by the Scottish government. The next review is expected on April 6, 2021.

Frequently Asked Questions 

Q: We are renting a lodge or suite through Hilton Grand Vacations during the current lockdown. Do I qualify for a refund?  
A: If any of our managed properties temporarily close due to new government guidance, we will contact you and offer a date change (subject to availability) or a full refund, as indicated below:

  • If, due to the COVID-19 mandates from the United Kingdom and Scottish Government, you need to change the travel date on your reservation, we will waive all change fees and move the reservation to a later date, subject to availability. Please note room prices may differ.
  • If we are unable to change your reservation, we will issue a full refund.

Q: We are renting or exchanging a lodge through a third party. Can we change our booking?  
A: Please contact the third-party service provider directly to arrange any changes or cancellations in line with their policies.
 
Q: We are Owners at the resort and cannot travel due to a government restriction. Will my maintenance fee be refunded?

A: The setting of maintenance fees and any related decisions sits with your Owners’ association and not with Hilton Grand Vacations. As a result, HGV is not able to provide maintenance fee refunds for unused vacation time.
 
Q: When will the resort re-open?  
A: Resort re-opening dates are contingent on the lifting of restrictions by the Scottish government. Please check the Travel Updates webpage often for a list of all re-opened HGV properties.  

Q: I am an Owner and own during the lockdown timeframe. Will I be able to stay at the property?
A: Following the Scottish government regulations, which came into effect on January 5 2021, all holiday accommodations in mainland Scotland (Level 4) are closed to tourism. The law also prevents non-essential travel to and from Scotland. Following a review on February 23, 2021, the Scottish Government has extended the lockdown through April 26, 2021. The next review is expected on April 6, 2021.
